About First Fiduciary:
Founded in 1975, First Fiduciary Investment Counsel (FFIC) is a highly successful, independent, equity and fixed income investment advisory firm managing over $550 million. Clients include high-net-worth individuals and institutions, such as financial advisors, wealth managers, corporations, non-profits, trade associations, and community foundations.
The firm’s investment philosophy centers on disciplined research, long-term perspective, and a commitment to transparency and client service. FFIC operates as a small, collaborative team that values creativity, accountability, and professional growth. With fewer than ten employees, the firm offers a collegial, hands-off environment where independent thinkers thrive under high expectations.
Opportunity:
First Fiduciary is seeking a self-starting, seasoned investment professional committed to business development and client success to join its investment team. This role offers a unique opportunity for someone eager to manage portfolios, cultivate new relationships while enhancing existing ones, and bring fresh ideas that will help guide the firm’s continued evolution and business development.
The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of investment success, interest in individual stock selection, and the ability to enthusiastically communicate with clients and prospects. This position is well-suited for a professional seeking significant autonomy within a close-knit team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of portfolio management including construction, asset allocation, and risk management.
- Source new clients, identify opportunities, and influence prospective clients through proactive, relationship-driven business development to support FFIC’s growth.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and develop meaningful client relationships grounded in care, resourcefulness, diligence, and ethical judgment.
- Conduct ongoing research on new and existing investments, apply creative thinking to evaluate current holdings, and identify new opportunities that support FFIC and client goals.
- Play an active role in weekly portfolio discussions. Bring forward investment ideas, rigorously evaluate existing positions, and provide thoughtful challenges to previously made assumptions.
- Identify opportunities for new investment products or strategies aligned with FFIC’s investing philosophy to enhance the firm’s growth initiatives.
- Collaborate within a small, cohesive team. Show day-to-day flexibility and demonstrate initiative and ownership of responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- 3-10+ years of relevant investment or portfolio management experience, with a proven record of independent decision-making and accountability.
- Demonstrated success in sourcing new clients or a high level of interest in business development and prospecting.
- Proven ability to build, strengthen, and retain long-term client relationships.
- Success in stock selection, fundamental research, and portfolio construction.
- Self-starter with a high degree of initiative, capable of operating effectively in a hands-off, high-expectation environment.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA) or professional designation (CFA, CFP) preferred.
Pay & Benefits:
- Base salary: $100,000+ commensurate with experience. Potential for significant bonus compensation based on success and business generation.
- Company-paid medical.
- Generous company-funded profit-sharing plan.
- 401k.
- Four weeks PTO.
- Continuing education and training.
